We are seeking a highly qualified Military Education Instructor to join our team at Charles County Public Schools. Key Responsibilities- Instruct in Military Drill: Teach students the fundamentals of military drill, including marching, saluting, and other essential skills.
- Counsel Students: Provide guidance and support to students in the ROTC program, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Develop Lesson Plans: Create and implement lesson plans for the ROTC curriculum, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education in military science and leadership.
- Requisition and Inventory Equipment: Manage the procurement and inventory of government-furnished equipment and materials for the ROTC program.
- Plan Extracurricular Activities: Organize and lead extracurricular activities for the ROTC unit, including drill meets and other events.
- Prepare Reports: Compile and submit regular reports on program administration and logistics, ensuring that stakeholders are informed of program progress and challenges.
- Assess Unit Progress: Evaluate the progress of the ROTC unit, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
- Attend Training: Participate in sponsored training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Recruit Students: Make annual presentations to students at feeder schools to promote the ROTC program and encourage recruitment.
- Supervise Drill Meets: Lead and supervise evening and weekend drill meets, ensuring that students are prepared and engaged.
- Manage Financial Accounts: Maintain accurate financial records and prepare vouchers for reimbursement expenditures to the school.
- Establish Community Partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with civic groups and other organizations to promote the ROTC program and secure recognition and support.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Experience: Must have served a minimum of 20 years of active duty or have retired under the Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA).
- Qualifications: Possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
