Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Technician to join our team at OmniSource. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine PM service on all transportation equipment, including yard maintenance vehicles, and performing DOT safety regulated repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and repair basic engine components, perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repair, change tires, make brake adjustments, and fix lights.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative/corrective maintenance on truck & trailers, maintain complete and accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Operational Support: Operate forklift, ability to drive Truck and Trailer, follow good housekeeping standards.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication as needed, make recommendations for process system improvements.
  • Safety and Compliance: Knowledge of industrial safety and OSHA guidelines, adhere to safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of two years experience with general knowledge of DOT truck maintenance requirements.
  • Safety and Compliance: Clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, ability to lift 50 lbs. or more consistently.
  • Certifications: Class A CDL license a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong welding and fabrication skills, highly self-motivated, team player dedicated to the organization.
