We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Steel Fabrication Specialist to join our team at Canam Bridges. As a Steel Fabrication Specialist, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to steel fabrication, including drilling, cutting, bending, shaping, grinding, fitting, assembly, cleaning, scrap removal, tacking, burning, and moving material.
Key Responsibilities- Operate magnetic drills and other machinery to fabricate steel components.
- Grind steel products using various sized grinders to achieve precise dimensions.
- Layout, position, align, and fit together the fabricated parts of structural components according to shop drawings or prints and layout specifications.
- Tack weld and operate a stud welding machine to assemble steel components.
- Unload raw materials and load finished steel products using a forklift, following proper training and certification.
- Perform trash and scrap removal, general cleaning, and housekeeping in the shop as directed.
- Run errands and perform in-house deliveries as necessary.
- Handle, move, and turn production materials with overhead cranes.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member.
- Ability to read and speak English.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred).
- Experience in structural steel operations (preferred).
The Steel Fabrication Specialist will work in a fast-paced production environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and potential risks of electrical shock and flash burns. The noise level of the work environment is usually very loud.
