Position Summary:

MITRE is in search of a highly driven, imaginative, and self-motivated undersea systems engineer to spearhead systems engineering initiatives across our diverse Navy sponsor base. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to articulate the mission impact of intricate technical capabilities to senior government and MITRE stakeholders, thereby shaping and influencing program objectives. Key responsibilities include engagement in one or more of the following domains:

  • Comprehensive undersea warfare command, control, and combat systems
  • Full spectrum undersea threat systems
  • Joint and Maritime Undersea Operations and Intelligence Analysis

Essential Qualifications:

  • Typically, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Intelligence Analysis, Undersea Communications, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity with 10 years of relevant experience in Undersea Warfare Acoustics Analysis, or a related field; or 8 years with an MS or a PhD with 5 years of relevant experience, or a related discipline with applicable experience who can contribute immediately in this role.
  • A solid technical foundation in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: combat systems, communication systems, sensing systems, and/or weapon system design and employment for undersea warfare.
  • Familiarity with the US intelligence community.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and technical writing abilities.
  • A balanced skill set in technical and interpersonal communication, with the capability to convey technical information to individuals at all levels.
  • Experience in operational requirement identification, fostering innovation, and managing system technology integration.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI level security clearance.
  • Willingness to work within a secure facility, with a significant portion of tasks potentially restricted from remote work.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS and/or PhD in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Operational experience in the undersea warfare domain.
  • Expertise in articulating the mission impact of complex technical concepts and capabilities to senior government stakeholders.
  • Research and development experience in one or more of the following areas: undersea command, control, and communications, weapon systems, or sensing systems.
  • Eligibility to obtain SAP security clearance.
