Position Purpose: The role involves ensuring that designated facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and secure manner, adhering to established codes and district policies.

Schedule: 8 hours/day - 5 days/week - 52 weeks/year

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; must be physically capable of performing essential job functions.
  • Competency in spelling, writing, and basic English language skills is necessary.
  • Experience in maintaining school facilities in accordance with health and safety standards is essential.
  • Demonstrated strong work history with good to excellent attendance and positive performance evaluations from previous supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Rarely working from scaffolding.
  • Frequent lifting of 25-30 pounds to waist level.

  • Vacuuming and extracting carpets.
  • Frequent reading, squatting, and bending.
  • Dusting furniture, buildings, and equipment.
  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hard floor surfaces.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of 12.5 to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of 25-30 pounds.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in all assigned areas according to the work schedule.
  • Required to operate safety-sensitive equipment (lifts & scrubbers).
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is mandatory.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Custodial Operations and/or principal/designee.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
  • Ada Requirements: The physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in various environments), taste, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment typically ranges from moderate to loud.
  • Mental Functions: The employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
