Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist to join our team in the Chief Technology Office's Global Technology & Applied Research group at JPMorgan Chase. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-performance computing solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-performance computing software using languages such as C, C++, and Python.
  • Collaborate with the quantum algorithms research team to develop and scale up simulation codes.
  • Work closely with the team to develop software that takes full advantage of parallel clusters, leveraging both CPUs and GPUs.
  • Contribute to the development of software to support experiments on quantum hardware.
  • Pursue necessary protections of generated IP to contribute to JPMC's IP.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
  • Bachelor's degree combined with 2+ years of quantum computing industry experience or Master's or Ph.D. degree in computer science, physics, math, engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain or develop high-performance computing software.
  • Proficiency in Python or C/C++.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in advanced techniques for simulation of quantum algorithms and quantum many-body systems.
  • Experience in simulation of quantum circuits.
  • Experience in parallel computing.
  • Experience in GPU programming.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing.
  • Experience in finance is a plus, though no prior familiarity with financial use cases is required.
