About the Role

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician to serve as the Chair of the Rheumatology Department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and advancing the field of rheumatology through research and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Rheumatology Department, including strategic planning, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to advance the field of rheumatology and improve patient outcomes.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team of rheumatologists and support staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in rheumatology and apply this knowledge to improve patient care and departmental operations.
Requirements
  • MD, MD/PhD, DO, or international equivalent terminal degree.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure and clinical practice in the state of Louisiana.
  • Proven record of administrative and academic leadership abilities, as well as a demonstrated commitment to education, mentoring, and clinical research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A strong record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding.
  • Demonstrated leadership and accomplishments in complex organizational environments.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations, and donors.
