Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in the medication distribution system, working under the supervision of a Pharmacist to ensure accurate and efficient dispensing of medications to patients. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fills new medication orders and prepares cassettes for Pharmacist review
  • Assists in reconciliation of missing orders and doses, completing required documentation
  • Delivers and retrieves medications to and from patient care areas
  • Maintains patient transfers, discharges, and medication returns to their proper locations
  • Exchanges medication cassettes daily
  • Completes all assigned charging and crediting functions, including from miscellaneous sources
  • Prepackages medications, such as oral liquids, simple batch compounding, and starter doses for review
  • Restocks automated dispensing cabinets, such as Omnicell machines
  • Utilizes Pharmacy operating system, such as Cerner
  • Operates and maintains robot for first doses and cart-fill process
  • Uses tube system, secure transaction function, and do not tube list
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pharmacy Technician Certification, one (1) year prior Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience
Work Environment

The Pharmacy Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, rotating shifts, and may be required to travel between Excela Health locations. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
