In this role, you will leverage your educational background to engineer processes for both new and existing systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design efforts in process engineering as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Producing engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring all outputs are technically robust and align with project specifications.
  • Conducting hazard and safety assessments.
  • Assisting in risk management evaluations.
  • Overseeing the technical work of assigned personnel, ensuring project timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Utilizing effective communication skills to relay information to team members and management.
  • Delivering clear and concise technical documentation and summarizing meeting discussions effectively.
  • Executing radiation shielding analyses for nuclear facility clients using MicroShield.
  • Performing system reliability assessments through fault trees, event trees, and reliability block diagrams with tools like BlockSim.
  • Working under an NQA-1 quality assurance framework.
  • Providing mentorship and technical support to project team members.
  • Participating in project meetings and conducting field evaluations.

Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens; dual citizenship with another country is not acceptable.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with a solid academic foundation.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil and chemical/process engineering.
  • A strong grasp of the practical applications of chemical/process engineering, including systems, principles, techniques, and project design methodologies.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to swiftly identify and prioritize challenges, devise solutions, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Valued but Not Required Skills and Experience:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure.
  • Familiarity with software such as ASPEN, MicroShield, MCNP, Crystal Ball, BlockSim, and Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of major federal environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
  • Experience in a nuclear environment, particularly with the DOE, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with nuclear materials and waste processes.
