Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer to join our team at Amentum. As a Chemical Engineer, you will provide engineering support to the Tank Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) Operations organization by providing technical/engineering services for the deployment and operation of processes and equipment for TSCR.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of necessary documentation including process planning
  • Provide technical analysis of system performance and process operating parameters to ensure efficient system operations
  • Interface with process engineering organization regarding expected feed and product characteristics
  • Ensure compliance with Authorization Basis regulatory permit requirements
  • Provide technical input to operating/maintenance procedures
  • Generate daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly progress reports
  • Interface with other organizations that support TSCR Operations
  • Perform engineering evaluations to support TSCR operations
  • Provide data/process analysis for TSCR Operations and implement process/design improvements based on analysis
  • Provide field support in radiologically controlled areas as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical degree
  • Two (2) years' experience for Grade 16, Five (5) years' experience for Grade 17, and Seven (7) years' experience for Grade 18
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to perform as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of operational process control principles and problem solving
  • Willingness to support off-shift/on-call work when required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to convey and present ideas/information effectively to peers and management
  • Knowledge of effective nuclear and non-nuclear operations practices, startup, and conduct of operations principles
  • Knowledge of leadership principles and strategies
  • Experience with chemical process engineering, including topics such as ion exchange, evaporation, heat transfer, mass balances, and process design
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience working in a nuclear facility or nuclear project
  • Provide mentoring and leadership for junior engineering staff
