The role of a Commercial Banker involves developing and implementing strategies for business growth while executing sales initiatives aimed at acquiring new commercial clients within the designated market. This position entails making sales calls and engaging with business customers, high net worth individuals, and potential clients to assess their needs and tailor solutions that address their loan, deposit, and service requirements. Collaboration with various bank divisions, including Treasury Management, Wealth Management, and Consumer Banking, as well as internal support teams, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality, profitability, and expansion of business and consumer products through appropriate pricing and fee structures.
- Employ effective sales techniques to attract, develop, and maintain customer relationships.
- Utilize need-based sales approaches to identify and promote products and services that enhance customer engagement with the bank.
- Establish a business development strategy for the assigned market; identify opportunities and conduct sales outreach to existing clients and prospects.
- Thoroughly analyze customer and prospect financial data to evaluate viability.
- Review loan applications, tax returns, income statements, bank statements, and other pertinent information to determine actual cash flow and perform ongoing credit assessments within policy guidelines.
- Identify and structure large, complex loan and deposit opportunities that optimize credit quality and profitability.
- Coordinate portfolio management activities in collaboration with a team that may include Credit Analysts and Commercial Banking Assistants.
- Apply advanced business acumen and risk management expertise to evaluate the viability of loan and deposit opportunities.
- Prepare and present accurate, comprehensive information to the Loan Committee for loan approvals.
- Oversee ongoing quality control for a portfolio by ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and collection efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of banking products, programs, services, and promotions.
- Accountable for achieving market objectives as defined by bank leadership.
- Utilize Customer Relationship Management systems to monitor sales activities and prospects.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, operational procedures, and risk management policies.
- Represent the bank in business development initiatives and at networking and community events.
- Foster partnerships and collaborate with other business lines to achieve mutual objectives and enhance customer service.
- Ensure compliance with AML/BSA requirements, audit procedures, dual control, security protocols, Business Continuity, and all other regulatory banking standards.
- Adhere to Seacoast Bank's Code of Conduct.
- A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated success in Commercial Banking.
- A 4-year college degree, preferably a BA in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven ability to analyze markets, identify prospects, and develop and implement consultative, value-added sales strategies.
- Ability to meet and exceed established performance targets.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships with business, civic, and governmental organizations.
- Established presence within the local community, with a strong reputation and following.
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate client needs.
