We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Army National Guard Units. As an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for the performance of a wide range of aircraft maintenance duties, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to ensure airworthiness and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces, and perform repairs and testing as needed.
- Conduct ground functional tests of all aircraft systems and services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, and hydraulic fluid.
- Launch and recover assigned and transient aircraft, and perform inspections prior to takeoff.
- May be required to perform additional duties such as firefighting, aircraft crash/rescue, and snow removal.
- Must have 18 months of experience or training in installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneumatic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
- Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment, and have the ability to instruct lower-graded mechanics, military, and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash-damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
