We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our team at GEO Corrections & Detentions. As a key member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality psychiatric services to our patients.
Responsibilities- Prepare daily call-out lists and ensure ordered lab work is completed and filed.
- Complete required data entry into the client system for every patient with psychiatric contact.
- Work closely with clinicians to ensure AIMS is completed as required for inmates prescribed antipsychotic medication.
- Ensure clinician orders are carried out, sign off orders, and generate medication administration records.
- Monitor labs and refer patients to appropriate providers.
- Participate in the development of individual treatment plans and attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Responsible for monthly reports via computer database to the client and employer.
- Ensure patients receive a 30-day supply of medications upon release from the facility.
- Respond to negative findings from client and internal audits with timely CAPs.
- Complete intake and admission paperwork for actively suicidal patients.
- Conduct daily mental health screening on suicidal patients and communicate observations to providers.
- Associate or bachelor's degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located.
- Previous experience in the management and treatment of mental health patients.
- Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
- Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
