Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our team in Pasadena. As a key member of our Staff Legal office, you will be responsible for representing our insureds in all phases of Workers' Compensation defense litigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the Company's insureds in Workers' Compensation defense litigation with minimal direction.
  • Achieve best outcomes for clients by demonstrating technical excellence in case handling, trial preparation, and presentation.
  • Drive positive outcomes by applying the law and legal trends, conducting legal analysis and research, and preparing legal pleadings and documents.
  • Document case files by accurately capturing and updating relevant information.
  • Collaborate with claims adjusters to develop case strategies and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Provide customer service to clients by proactively communicating information and responding to inquiries.
  • Determine and implement alternative dispute resolution techniques as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and staying current with industry trends.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in Litigation.
  • Member of the Bar in good standing in the jurisdiction(s) in which practice is located.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Workers Compensation experience.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment.
Compensation

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors, including office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Zurich provides a comprehensive employee benefits package and competitive compensation.

Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education.

The starting salary range for this position is $127,000 to $208,700.
