Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed radiopharmaceuticals and isotopes to patients
  • Perform technical tasks to facilitate the use of nuclear medicine, including patient positioning and film processing
  • Responsible for quality control, record maintenance, and other components critical in the operation of the nuclear medicine department
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating patient exams within the daily schedule to ensure proper utilization
  • Review patient charts and history to ensure the correct test is being performed, ensuring there are no counter indications for performing the study
  • Order and administer correct radiopharmaceuticals and dosages as needed for various patient exams
  • Maintain adequate records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Transfer patients to imaging camera and assist with patient positioning and comfort
  • Explain procedures in a clear, understandable manner to patients, family, and students
  • Administer injections of radioisotopes for exams using established sterile techniques
  • Operate scanner and position patient to achieve procedures of high diagnostic quality
  • Manipulate images using various computerized controls to prepare study for the physician
  • Ensure that images are permanently archived to appropriate media or Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) server
  • Perform quality control procedures and calibrations on equipment to ensure reliable operation
  • Discard radioactive remnants in appropriate waste or storage containers
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree in nuclear medicine technology or related field preferred
  • Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) or equivalent required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
