Job Summary

LifeSpan is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our Gastrointestinal Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans in patient medical records.
  • Initiate life-saving measures in emergency situations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as endoscopic procedures, imaging studies, and laboratory tests, to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including medication management, dietary recommendations, and lifestyle modification.
  • Provide patient education and liaison support on gastrointestinal health, including disease prevention, management of chronic conditions, and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate care for patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of gastrointestinal care and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the care of outpatient ambulatory care patients by providing consults and re-evaluations, in addition to urgent outpatient evaluations.
  • May perform other duties as requested by the attending physician within the APP scope of practice.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an APRN graduate or post-graduate program accredited by a nursing accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or its successor organization.
  • Current RI NP or PA license that includes prescriptive privileges.
  • Clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider for two years is preferred. Must have patient care services procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician. GI experience strongly preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The Advanced Practice Provider will work in a healthcare environment, such as an acute care hospital, physician office, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. The ideal candidate will be able to work with medical equipment and have direct patient contact. Any potential hazards will be minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions, including the use of safety equipment and protective clothing.
