Under the guidance of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the Radiation Therapist 2 is responsible for delivering exceptional technical and clinical services in Radiation Therapy. This role encompasses both direct and indirect patient interactions, support during specialized procedures, and involvement in the educational development of Radiation Therapy students. The position demands exemplary customer service and adherence to the Standards of Professional Behavior as outlined in our Core Success Factors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
1.1. Utilize a comprehensive approach to patient care, ensuring confidentiality and dignity are maintained throughout the treatment process.
1.2. Deliver safe, evidence-based care tailored to individual patient needs, reinforcing the Radiation Oncologist's guidance on treatment reactions and care.
1.3. Follow established radiation safety protocols, performing Time Outs to confirm the accuracy of treatment procedures.
1.4. Navigate electronic medical records effectively to verify treatment plans and manage patient scheduling.
1.5. Participate in the onboarding and continuous training of new staff, sharing expertise in clinical techniques and departmental policies.
1.6. Execute all technical responsibilities in compliance with departmental standards.
1.7. Provide technical assistance as needed and adjust schedules to meet patient care requirements.
1.8. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
1.9. Be available for emergency situations and weekend duties as required.
1.10. Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate personnel.
1.11. Operate therapeutic equipment according to established guidelines.
1.12. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
1.13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
1.14. Resolve complex treatment setups and mentor staff and students in these processes.
1.15. Manage urgent cases and coordinate on-call activities with team members. - Clinical Expertise:

4.1. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement relevant policies and procedures.
4.2. Participate in departmental committees as needed.
4.3. Assist in the development and presentation of new departmental initiatives.
4.4. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to address treatment planning challenges.
4.5. Engage with patients and caregivers to enhance satisfaction and safety.
4.6. Provide feedback on staff performance for competency assessments.
4.7. Contribute to the recruitment process for new staff.
4.8. Ensure adequate staffing and provide coverage as necessary.
4.9. Assist in scheduling for weekends and holidays when required.
4.10. Support team operations in the absence of lead personnel.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program; ARRT registration and CT Licensure are mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in radiation therapy, with at least 1-3 years in a similar environment.
Licensure: CT Licensure and ARRT Certification required; BLS Certification preferred within three months of hire.
Special Skills: Strong communication and active listening abilities, with a focus on collaborative problem-solving and patient safety.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and repositioning patients, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
