Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Mechanic to join our team at Mehlville R-9 School District. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on all District vehicles. Your expertise will ensure the proper operation of all tools, maintenance, and transportation department vehicles.

Responsibilities

* Perform and log preventative maintenance, computerized diagnostics on all District Vehicles
* Inspect buses bi-annually to ensure they meet State regulations
* Secure and maintain the security of the transportation department, including monitoring building, lots, vehicles, etc.
* Provide roadside service to District drivers and determine whether to tow vehicle or repair on-site
* Monitor weather, notifying all necessary officials of inclement weather
* Attend safety meetings and workshops
* Serve as a substitute driver when needed
* Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent
* 2-5 years of job-related prior experience
* State Inspector's License
* Ability to obtain a School Bus Operator's License
