About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Consultant to join our team at the State of Florida. As an Environmental Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Department of Environmental Protection's mission to protect the state's natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific and technical support in the implementation of statewide programs for the assessment and remediation of contamination sites.
  • Oversee statewide risk assessment and management of technical and programmatic issues related to human health and ecological risk at contaminated sites.
  • Provide guidance and support in evaluation and development of risk assessments, including both human health and ecological risk.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and manage toxicological services contracts and coordinate risk assessment review and toxicological service requests.
  • Serve as district liaison for responsible party cleanup sites and assist in cleanup rule development.
  • Assist and respond to the public, agency officials, local government personnel, and consultants regarding inquiries and technical assistance concerning contaminated site cleanup.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, environmental science, or one of the natural sciences.
  • Four years of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience.
  • Florida Certified Contract Manager (FCCM) certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Travel.
