Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hotel Engineer to join our team at the Westin Long Beach. As a Hotel Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the property is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with minimal disruption to customers and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, including air conditioning systems, boilers, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Take regular readings on equipment to monitor performance and identify potential issues.
  • Test and maintain cooling towers, swimming pools, and spas.
  • Replace and program televisions, light switches, receptacles, and fixtures as needed.
  • Perform furniture repair and replacement.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including clogged drains and water lines.
  • Understand and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Trace and repair water lines and other types of pipes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all work is performed to local, state, and federal codes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or college coursework in a related field helpful.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and bending.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity and identify problem areas for implementation of solutions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to show initiative and anticipate guest or operational needs.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $26 per hour. We offer a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
