Position Summary: The Furnace Operations Specialist is tasked with the operation and upkeep of the heat treat furnace, essential for hardening and tempering steel fasteners produced by MNP. This pivotal role demands strict adherence to safety protocols and precise management of temperature instruments to ensure steel is processed to meet the required strength and functionality for specific fastener applications. The Specialist collaborates with a small team and must exhibit self-motivation and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage furnace controls to comply with specified process requirements
- Examine parts pre- and post-heat treatment for adherence to specifications using precision measuring tools and visual inspection
- Monitor and log computer controls, such as the carbon controller, to maintain necessary temperatures, soak times, and cooling durations
- Document non-conforming parts and issue rejection notices or rework orders as necessary
- Maintain accurate inspection records and adhere to lot tracing protocols
- Engage in 5S housekeeping practices
- Perform additional duties as assigned
