Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistive care to patients, including phone management, chart review, care coordination, triage, and problem management.
  • Work closely with members of the Department of Pediatrics triage team to provide high-quality, efficient care to patients and their families.
  • Communicate directly and indirectly with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
  • Discuss patient and family concerns over the phone and/or via the electronic health record.
  • Provide patient education as directed, reflecting specific MA training, guidelines, care process models, and protocols.
  • Report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the care provider.
  • Actively participate in triage customer service improvement initiatives and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
  • Verifiable completion of one (1) of the following: State-approved EMT course, one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory care clinic or other healthcare setting, Medical Assisting education program, or University Hospital Medical Assistant certification program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program or equivalent (EMT).
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is patient-sensitive and requires the ability to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
