Medical Assistant I

The University of Utah Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I to join our team in the Department of Pediatrics. As a Medical Assistant I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide assistive care to patients, including phone management, chart review, care coordination, triage, and problem management.
- Work closely with members of the Department of Pediatrics triage team to provide high-quality, efficient care to patients and their families.
- Communicate directly and indirectly with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
- Discuss patient and family concerns over the phone and/or via the electronic health record.
- Provide patient education as directed, reflecting specific MA training, guidelines, care process models, and protocols.
- Report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the care provider.
- Actively participate in triage customer service improvement initiatives and quality improvement initiatives.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- Verifiable completion of one (1) of the following: State-approved EMT course, one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory care clinic or other healthcare setting, Medical Assisting education program, or University Hospital Medical Assistant certification program.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program or equivalent (EMT).
This position is patient-sensitive and requires the ability to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
