Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). As a Mammography Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography procedures, including breast imaging, ultrasound, wire localizations, ductograms, cyst aspiration, and core biopsies.
  • Operate and maintain various types of x-ray and related equipment, ensuring proper safety standards and protocols are followed.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective patient care.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including explaining exam procedures, addressing patient concerns, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Participate in quality control tests and maintain accurate records, adhering to regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Assist in research and quality improvement projects, contributing to the advancement of mammography services.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist in the category of Radiography.
  • Valid Massachusetts license in the category of Mammography, in addition to Radiography.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, with a strong background in mammography.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to operate and maintain complex equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of computer operations, including digital imaging and radiology information systems.
Working Conditions
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with minimal exposure to ionizing radiation.
  • Continuous standing and lifting, with occasional exposure to human waste and disease.
  • Considerable stress from dealing with a wide variety of hospital staff, patients, and families.
