Senior Piping Engineer - Refining Sector
Location: Denver, CO
In the role of Senior Piping Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in comprehending the project's objectives, timelines, deliverables, milestones, labor budgets, industry regulations, relevant codes, and operational procedures.
This position is based onsite in a refinery or plant setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess line counts and project isometric quantities based on Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Employ 3D modeling software (CADWorx/Navisworks) to evaluate design integrity and progress.
- Create general layouts of plant infrastructure, structures, and equipment while ensuring safe maintenance and construction practices, collaborating with all engineering and design teams.
- Possess field design expertise, capable of conducting site inspections using P&IDs, accurately locating tie points, and navigating piping through existing structures. Document findings for integration into CADWorx models.
- Experience in verifying piping drawings both in the office and on-site is advantageous.
- Prior experience with CADWorx for developing piping models, pipe supports, equipment models, and extracting isometric and orthographic drawings is beneficial.
- Projects may incorporate Laser Scanning technology; familiarity with integrating scans into CADWorx is a plus.
- Identify and compile information needs to adhere to project timelines.
- Review and endorse deliverables before distribution.
- Facilitate coordination of design efforts across various engineering and design disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with deliverable verification protocols.
- Experience executing projects within pre-existing facilities that present numerous obstructions and design challenges.
- Possess knowledge of client and project-specific procedures and specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a 2 or 3-year technical diploma with specialized training in piping design or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in piping and layout design for power generation and industrial facilities is essential; experience in refining and chemical facilities is a plus.
- Intermediate to advanced level of experience in 3D model design review using CADWorx.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience in the Oil & Gas sector is mandatory within a facility context.
- Refinery experience is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
