Job Overview:

The Acute Care Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in delivering healthcare services by performing X-Ray examinations that aid in diagnosis and treatment. This position involves executing X-Ray procedures and associated techniques, generating images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

Essential Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of a Radiology program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Active Montana Licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), R.T.(R).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within three months of employment.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in radiology, which may include clinical internship experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced imaging techniques, including fluoroscopic/C-Arm in the operating room, trauma, and portable radiography within six months, including services to NICU, CCU, and ED.
Preferred Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

In addition to the core responsibilities outlined below, employees are expected to complete all required education in a timely manner as per organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts radiographic examinations as requested by healthcare providers.
  • Performs fluoroscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in collaboration with radiology providers.
  • Executes ultrasound-guided procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, and arthrocentesis alongside radiology providers.
  • Provides patient education regarding preparation and post-care for radiology procedures.
  • Assists radiology nursing staff with fluoroscopically guided PICC placements.
  • Conducts C-arm fluoroscopy exams in the operating room as requested by surgical teams.
  • Completes necessary documentation for accurate interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of examinations.
  • Performs ancillary duties to ensure proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
  • Retrieves written orders and relevant health information.
  • Participates in the monitoring and enhancement of hospital quality indicators.
  • Educates radiography students, new hires, and fellow radiology technologists on pertinent diagnostic and operative guidance exams.
  • Adheres to educational requirements as outlined by regulatory programs.

  • On-call availability may be necessary to address organizational and patient needs promptly.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, both in person and through various technologies.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, including de-escalating interactions with upset individuals.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
