Oregon School Sign Language Interpreter Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year at VocoVision. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States.
Job DescriptionThis role requires providing sign language interpretation for students in K-12 classrooms, ensuring their access to educational content and facilitating communication within the classroom setting. Responsibilities include:
- Providing sign language interpretation for students in K-12 classrooms
- Fostering effective communication between students, teachers, and other school staff members
- Adapting interpreting style and techniques to meet the needs of individual students
- Collaborating with teachers and educational professionals to support student learning and development
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
The ideal candidate will have fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant sign languages, previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant sign languages
- Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, preferably K-12 schools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time in a remote work environment
- Bachelor's or associates degree in Sign Language Interpretation, Education, or a related field (preferred)
- EIPA or RID certification
- Certification to interpret in Oregon must be active
