Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Express Employment Professionals. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Controller's Office with various activities, including month-end close, reconciliation, journal entries, asset disposals, cost rolls, and financial statement preparation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulators.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments regarding accounting issues and financial procedures.
  • Conduct periodic audits of financial statements and accounting practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage cash flows, including forecasting and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Conduct financial analyses and present findings to management for decision-making purposes.
Requirements:
  • Possess in-depth knowledge and working experience with the closing process.
  • Advanced Excel user level
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CMA a plus
  • 4 plus years of industry experience
  • Monthly closing experience
