Position Overview

SUMMARY:

Are you enthusiastic about soccer and eager to contribute to the sport? Join our team as a Youth Sports Official at Kettle Moraine YMCA, where you will play a vital role in our local recreational soccer league. This is a seasonal role, primarily focused on overseeing games during designated seasons. You will be responsible for officiating matches, ensuring fair play, and maintaining a positive environment for young athletes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Arrive at the field 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the game.
  2. Conduct safety inspections of the playing area and equipment before each match.
  3. Prepare the field for games and ensure it is cleared post-match.
  4. Review rules and expectations with coaches and players before the game starts.
  5. Address any inquiries from coaches and players prior to the match.
  6. Guide spectators on appropriate viewing areas during games.
  7. Enforce the rules of the game consistently.
  8. Document game scores and report any issues or concerns to the Youth Sports Director.
  9. Ensure the safety of all participants throughout the program.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Youth Sports Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. KMSL certification is required (cost covered by YMCA).
  3. Strong understanding of soccer rules and gameplay.
  4. Able to manage high-pressure situations effectively.
  5. Experience working with diverse populations.
  6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  7. Ability to officiate games in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  2. Must be able to jog alongside players throughout the duration of the game.
