Job Title: Public Health Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Data Analyst to join our team at the State of Alaska. As a Public Health Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and providing data analysis and reporting to stakeholders.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Data Analyst will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties, including data analysis, reporting, and visualization. You will work closely with the Program Coordinator to produce reports and support the Opioid Data Dashboard. Your expertise in data analysis and interpretation will be essential in helping us understand trends and patterns in public health data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform data analysis and reporting to support the PDMP and Opioid Data Dashboard
  • Develop and maintain databases and data systems to support public health data analysis
  • Provide data visualization and reporting to stakeholders
  • Assist with responding to data requests and providing data support to program stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing public health data
Requirements:
  • PhD in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health nursing, health sciences, health administration, public health, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, social sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences, social work, computer sciences, or a closely related field
  • Two years of journey or full performance level professional experience in public health-related clinical and/or technical research, consultation, and advisory services, and/or data system design and implementation
  • Considerable knowledge of statistical, database, and/or spreadsheet software
  • Ability to reason logically and accurately, and draw valid conclusions
  • Thorough knowledge of the application of data processing to the extent of being able to adapt, prepare, and use computer programs for statistical analysis and reporting
