Pharmacist - Sterile Products Specialist

Job Summary:

This position provides focused activities within our sterile products laboratory, collaborating with a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to oversee sterile product medication therapies.

Responsibilities:

  • Medication preparation and validation, including standard and hazardous/chemotherapy preparations.
  • Utilization of IV lab technologies.
  • Upkeep with specific sterile products training and validation.
  • Correspondence with pharmacy/hospital staff about patient care needs related to sterile product compounding.

The position also has some pharmacy staffing requirements outside the sterile products laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret medication orders and prescriptions to ensure they are complete, safe, rational, and compatible with institutional policy.
  • Prepare compounds and dispense medications for inpatient and ambulatory care use.
  • Dispense Pharmacy-related items.
  • Perform duties in all areas of Pharmacy, including inpatient, ambulatory care, and satellites.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D.
  • NYS license and registration, or eligibility.
  • Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy residency or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dedicated sterile products pharmacy experience.

Work Schedule:

Rotating shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends & Holidays.
