Position Overview:
The Formulation & Process Development team at Gilead Sciences is in search of a Senior Formulation Scientist II to contribute to the advancement of drug discovery and product development initiatives related to small molecules. This role is pivotal in enhancing our mission to deliver life-saving therapies to patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in lead optimization and API form selection/characterization.
- Conduct pre-formulation and formulation development.
- Oversee the manufacture of clinical supplies and the development of scalable manufacturing processes.
- Implement Quality by Design (QbD) principles in process scale-up.
- Collaborate with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and manage global regulatory strategies.

Essential Qualifications:
- A PhD in a relevant scientific field with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Proven expertise in formulation and process development for solid oral dosage forms and/or parenteral products.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC/UPLC and solid-state characterization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience in pre-formulation, formulation, and process development, including oversight of GMP drug product manufacturing.
- A creative and critical thinker capable of solving complex problems and suggesting innovative experimental designs.
