Job Summary

The Field Technician is a crucial role at Universal Engineering Sciences, responsible for ensuring the day-to-day completion of work assignments related to testing concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials. This position requires a reliable and trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.
  • Conduct testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials at job sites.
  • Return samples to the office for testing and report data in an accurate, complete, timely, and understandable fashion.
  • Operate testing equipment, maintain equipment, and ensure all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
  • Communicate with the dispatching team and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required.
  • Prepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software and ability to write and retrieve emails using Microsoft Outlook.
Requirements
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act.
  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • ACI Level I Certification.
  • Earthworks Construction Inspection Certification - Level I and II.
