Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst III to join our team at the State of Idaho. As a key member of our Plant Industries division, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing Geographic Information System (GIS) projects to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, management, and analysis of GIS projects to ensure objectives are met.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to define data management needs, including metadata, and develop workflows to meet requirements.
  • Manage the technical design and development aspects of our GIS to ensure the maintenance of programs that satisfy all users.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of quality control programs for GIS.
  • Mentor junior analysts and train users on GIS applications.
  • Lead and oversee projects and teams.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of GIS, including analysis, data capture, and data conversion.
  • Good knowledge of GIS programming languages commonly used in the development of GIS programs.
  • Database management skills, including experience with statistical software such as Excel, Access, Lotus, etc.
  • Web API knowledge and experience.
  • At least three years of professional work experience operating, applying, and programming GIS software products in a work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some knowledge of environmental or natural resource science.
  • Supervisory practices.
  • Scripting skills.
  • Cadastral mapping, coordinate geometry (COGO), and land surveying concepts.
  • Experience applying GIS in land records/lands information systems planning and analysis.
  • Linear referencing.
