Job Summary:

The Department of Medicine at Upstate University Hospital is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as the Division Chief of Cardiology. The selected candidate will have the capacity to implement and grow programs including advanced cardiac imaging, structural heart disease, high risk coronary interventions, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology interventions, and more.

The Division Chief of Cardiology will report to Dr. Cynthia Taub, the Department Chair of Medicine. The selected candidate will qualify for an academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor in an academic clinician educator track.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and retain clinical and research faculty with primary appointment in the Division of Cardiology.
  • Provide oversight in quality and safety initiatives, and lead clinical excellence.
  • Develop and implement training curriculum for medical students, residency, and fellowship programs.
  • Provide effective mentoring, educational opportunities, and professional development for faculty, ensuring the highest quality of communication amongst members of the division and within the Department of Medicine.
  • Cultivate philanthropy.
  • Develop and ensure the effective use of financial and physical resources within the division of Cardiology.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine with ongoing clinical and scholarly activities.
  • Fellowship trained in Cardiology or an ACGME Accredited Subspecialty Fellowship.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State prior to the start of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in MBA, MPH, or MHA preferred.

Work Environment:

Monday through Friday daytime hours.
