Job Description

Timmons Group is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our Power Engineering & System Planning Group. The successful candidate will provide design support to multiple design teams involved in the conceptual, preliminary, and final design of transmission line projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing complete drawings of structures, layouts, facilities, or general arrangements, including section and detail views, and profiles.
  • Preparing electrical single lines, AC & DC schematics, and wiring drawings.
  • Preparing project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts, and arrangements.
  • Demonstrating personal development of technical knowledge through interface with the engineering departments.
  • Acquiring and maintaining advanced skill levels through software releases and upgrades.
  • Assisting in the training and advancement of skills for other designing and drafting department personnel.
Requirements
  • Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Self-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques, and increase job-related knowledge.
  • Perform drafting tasks at a rate set by management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Review of own work for zero error output.
  • Knowledge and use of IEEE, ANSI, and NSEC Standards.
  • Proven ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines.
