Job Title: Area Transmission Planner I

Job Summary:

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Area Transmission Planner I to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery department, you will be responsible for planning and implementing transmission projects to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of transmission studies and plans to meet customer needs and support the company's Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions goal.
  • Utilize engineering methods to demonstrate compliance with NERC/WECC Reliability Standards.
  • Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with transmission projects.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate transmission systems, processes, or facilities to support company objectives.
  • Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.
  • Maintain project timeliness and budgets.
  • Participate in the development of new WECC/NERC standards to influence the successful implementation of clear and concise standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calm.
  • Demonstrated communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal computers, automated tools, and software applications, including power flow and dynamic analysis, database management, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Power Option (particularly Power System Analysis).
  • Advanced Degree.
  • Preferred one or more years of directly related experience in transmission modeling, transmission system engineering, and/or transmission system planning.
