Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the clinical activities of our healthcare system by performing patient testing and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records.
  • Provide test results, reporting deviations from the norm to supervisor or ordering physician.
  • Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees.
  • Participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
  • ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year.
  • None required.
Work Environment

This position is eligible for the weekend shift differential and is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
