Position Overview

This position involves gathering comprehensive breast health histories from patients and providing clear explanations of the procedures involved. The specialist is responsible for preparing the examination room and operating mammography equipment in accordance with established standards set by the American College of Radiology. Additionally, the specialist reviews images for clarity and identifies any visible abnormalities, ensuring accurate information is communicated to the radiology department as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Certification as a Mammographer is mandatory.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Proficiency in word processing and various computer applications is essential.
  • Familiarity with VMO or other electronic medical record systems is preferred.
Qualifications

Educational Background:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is essential.
  • Completion of a Junior College, Technical School, or Business School program is required.
  • ARRT Certification in Radiography is necessary.
  • ARRT Certification in Mammography is mandatory.
  • A valid WV Medical Imaging License is required.
Professional Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field is expected.
The required experience includes:

Graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. The candidate must hold certification as a Mammographer and possess at least two years of hands-on mammography experience. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make informed decisions are essential for success in this role.
