POSITION: Computer Operator

LOCATION: Washington DC / Hybrid

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 6 years

Position Summary:

This role is not eligible for remote work. All shifts require onsite presence. The organization operates continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The candidate must be willing to work during holidays and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected individual will undertake tasks related to the management and operation of drawings for online gaming, including second chance and special event drawings.

  • Act as the primary contact for resolving both minor and complex hardware and software issues.
  • Monitor networked systems for security vulnerabilities and investigate any suspicious activities.
  • Ensure that personnel access to classified processing areas is controlled and compliant with security protocols.
  • Oversee game closing and IT draw operations, confirming the closure of lottery games and validating winning numbers.
  • Collaborate with vendors to facilitate payments for local drawings and maintain accurate sales and liabilities data.
  • Process and reconcile financial reports from the Internal Control System (ICS) against Back-Office System (BOS) reports on a daily basis.
  • Monitor the performance of ICS and BOS during data entry, reporting any anomalies to systems and network engineers.
  • Update sales and winning numbers for multistate lottery games in the Multistate Lottery Association (MUSL) and Draw Reporting Systems.
  • Assist IT staff in providing foundational computer and systems support to gaming systems vendors.
  • Conduct preliminary IT inquiries and track issues for users.
  • Maintain an inventory of assets for the Lottery IT department.
  • Support IT Specialists in installing and configuring software and hardware, including network printers and mobile devices.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of various computer operating systems to effectively monitor internal activities.
  • General understanding of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) for secure data transfer.
  • Familiarity with network file systems and USB file transfers.
  • Experience in an Information Technology environment, particularly within Microsoft Windows.
  • Ability to comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports, and test scripts.
  • High School Diploma is mandatory.
