About River Partners

Founded in 1998, River Partners is a nonprofit organization focused on restoring California's river habitats. Our innovative conservation model leverages restored riverways to foster a sustainable future for both the environment and local communities. We have successfully restored more habitat along California's impaired rivers than any other organization in the western United States, impacting nearly 20,000 acres through various projects.

Importance of Our Work

Healthy rivers are vital for California's ecological and economic well-being. They provide essential resources for agriculture, support diverse wildlife, and contribute to the state's rich biodiversity. Unfortunately, only 5% of California's native riverside habitat remains, and urgent action is needed to restore these critical ecosystems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and document restoration projects, ensuring compliance and conducting data analysis related to vegetation, soils, water quality, and hydrology.
  • Prepare site-specific restoration plans and project progress reports.
  • Assist in implementing restoration designs across project areas.
  • Engage with the scientific community and the public through presentations and educational activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with agency personnel, contractors, and community members.
  • Be adaptable to work long hours and weekends in various field conditions.
  • Travel to multiple project sites for planning and monitoring purposes.
  • Support other departmental initiatives as needed to achieve organizational goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in natural resource management or ecological restoration.
  • Valid California driver's license with no restrictions.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in GPS/GIS applications.
  • Experience in grant management is a plus.
