Overview:


Encantado Technical Solutions is in search of a Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician to enhance the IT Program at a prominent national laboratory.

The organization specializes in providing IT Infrastructure for comprehensive enterprise services.

They deliver advanced telecommunications solutions for data, voice, wireless LAN, RF Microwave, and encryption capabilities, focusing on safeguarding and securing client information, standardization, and minimizing diversity.


In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining low voltage telecommunications infrastructure that adheres to industry standards, as well as local and national regulations and specifications set forth by National Laboratories.

Maintenance tasks will encompass all facets of information communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, including Outside Plant, Inside Plant, Horizontal Cabling, and Telecommunications Spaces.

A strong understanding of NEC Codes related to Telecommunications, BICSI Industry Best Practices, EIA/TIA Standards, and IEEE Standards is essential.


Proven experience in fiber and copper cabling network infrastructures, along with a comprehensive understanding of telecommunications industry standards (American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), and BICSI recommended practices) is required.

Preferred qualifications include experience in installing outside plant cable infrastructure systems and extensive background in structured cabling systems within campus-type environments.

Proficiency in interpreting specifications and drawings related to construction projects is also necessary.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate small projects, including material ordering, scheduling, and leading a small installation crew.
- Troubleshoot single mode and multimode fiber using an OTDR and/or Power Meter.
- Diagnose GPON issues using a PON meter or OTDR.
- Address copper infrastructure problems utilizing Fluke testers, multimeter, and handset.
- Oversee the installation of all aspects of GPON.
- Install WAPs and other Wi-Fi network devices.
- Manage the installation, termination, and testing of ISP SM/MM fiber, UTP/STP copper cabling.
- Perform splicing and termination of multi-pair copper.
- Execute fiber splicing (simplex, ribbon, loose tube).
- Conduct installation, preparation, termination, and testing of OSP fiber cabling.
- Utilize testers to certify circuits up to 100g.
- Install and maintain battery stringers and UPS systems.
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding.
- Maintain certification of customer testing equipment.
- Oversee maintenance of customer-owned splicers.
- Rack and stack network switches.
- Use Panorama for device configuration.
- Update as-built drawings using Visio.

Qualifications:
- Associate's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; alternatively, 8 years of job-related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in fiber optics termination and testing.
- Skilled in fusion splicing.
- Knowledgeable in cable locating procedures.
- Experienced in infrastructure cabling, installation, testing, and best practices for voice, data, and VoIP.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work in various locations associated with Telecommunications Spaces.

Desired:
- Familiarity with design drawing tools such as AutoCAD and Visio.
- Working knowledge of GIS-based design support software (Esri).
- A New Mexico Journeyman License ES-7J/ES-3J (Telephone Communications System and Telephone interconnect systems or higher) is preferred.
- BICSI certification.
