Job Summary

West Suburban Medical Center is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care services, utilizing your expertise in speech-language pathology to evaluate, interpret, plan, educate, and implement age-appropriate and functional treatment plans for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and Interpret Patient Needs: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient communication and swallowing disorders, and develop individualized treatment plans to address these needs.
  • Plan and Implement Treatment: Utilize evidence-based practices to design and deliver effective speech-language pathology interventions, including diagnostic procedures, treatments, and educational programs.
  • Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members to coordinate treatment plans, ensure seamless communication, and promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Document patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards and guidelines.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to expand clinical expertise, stay current with best practices, and contribute to the growth and development of our team.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program, and current licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of post-graduation experience in speech-language pathology, with a strong background in patient care and treatment planning.
  • Certifications and Competencies: CPR certification, basic English language competence, and effective interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

As a Speech Language Pathologist at West Suburban Medical Center, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members. You will be required to possess sufficient dexterity to use patient care equipment, render patient care daily, and safely move patients and/or equipment. You may be exposed to diagnosed and undiagnosed communicable diseases, and may encounter agitated patients with potential for physical and/or verbal aggression.
