Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the school clinic, ensuring that all necessary medical supplies and equipment are available.
- Administer first aid and provide medical care to students and staff as needed, in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Evaluate students with illnesses or health conditions to determine their suitability for attendance at school, and communicate with parents as necessary.
- Coordinate and administer daily scheduled medication to students, in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
- Work closely with parents, local physicians, and school staff to develop and implement individualized plans of care for students with chronic health conditions.
- Provide health education and promote good health practices among students, staff, and parents.
- Assist school staff with immunization records, health forms, and other required health-related tasks.
- Perform vision and hearing screenings, and maintain accurate records of student health data.
- Ensure that the school clinic is maintained in a clean and safe manner, and that all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure that student health needs are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student health information with discretion.
- LPN or RN licensure in the state of Georgia.
- Basic literacy skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
The School Nurse Specialist will work in a typical office setting, with occasional exposure to students and staff with illnesses or injuries. The position requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities are also required. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential functions of this position.
