Job Summary

The Assistant Parts Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the stock of replacement parts, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and providing exceptional customer service. This dynamic individual will be responsible for forecasting parts needs, monitoring inventory, pricing parts for profitability, and collaborating with service managers to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Forecasting parts needs and ordering parts to maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Monitoring the current parts inventory and making adjustments as needed
  • Pricing parts to maintain profitability and meet customer demands
  • Receiving and processing parts, including labeling and inventory management
  • Providing exceptional customer service, including helping customers find and purchase the correct parts
  • Overseeing special orders and ensuring timely delivery
  • Collaborating with service managers to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs
  • Assisting the Manager in hiring, supervising, and training parts department staff members
Requirements
  • Sales and customer service skills, with the ability to work with the general public and staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues
  • Mathematical skills to manage inventory, pricing, and estimates
  • Problem-solving skills to address parts inventory issues and find solutions
  • Previous mechanic or car sales experience, with a strong understanding of automotive parts and systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes loud environment, with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Leadership skills to manage the parts department and ensure smooth operations
  • Product knowledge to identify parts correctly and recommend the needed parts
  • Parts counter experience is a plus
