The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will work under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist to prepare medication for animal consumption. This role is responsible for supporting the company mission, vision, and values while ensuring the quality and safety of compounded medications.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare medication for animal consumption under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Read and interpret veterinarian orders and transcribe them onto a pharmacy computer medication profile.
- Prepare compounds for use under direct pharmacist supervision, following pharmacy law and standards of practice.
- Check and remove outdated medications on a routine basis to ensure quality control.
- Record refrigerator and freezer temperatures, where pharmaceuticals are stored daily.
- Calibrate and document scales, powder hoods, and other equipment.
- Follow all safety and USP guidelines for preparation of compounded medications.
- Complete internal monthly continuing education requirements.
- Follow established pharmacy SOPs and Quality Assurance program.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pharmacy technician registration as required by state law.
- Compounding experience preferred.
- PTCB certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with veterinary products preferred.
- Perform basic math and operate a calculator proficiently.
- Interact with computer software via a keyboard.
- Pay attention to details and retain information readily.
- Read, comprehend, and translate regulations & laws into understandable instructions.
- Demonstrate interpersonal relationship building skills and function effectively as a team player.
- Exhibit punctuality and low absenteeism.
