Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The Criminology Department invites applications for two one-year appointments beginning in September 2024 with potential for renewal. Teaching responsibilities may include: Introduction to the Criminal Legal System, Criminological Theories, and/or elective criminology courses on gangs, criminology goes to the movies, crime and the media, hate/bias crimes, juvenile justice, white collar crimes, crimes of the state, cybercrime and cyber terrorism, and domestic and international terrorism.

The Criminology Department at DePaul University is the second largest major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Located on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus, the Department provides students with an in-depth understanding of the various aspects of the criminal legal system. DePaul’s Criminology program emphasizes critical thinking, strong analytical and writing skills, ethical considerations, and social justice. The major includes three concentration areas: Community Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, and Race, Class, Gender and the Criminal Legal System.

With an overall enrollment of over 21,000 students, DePaul is the nation’s twelfth largest private non-profit university. While the university is large, class sizes in the Criminology Department do not exceed 35 students. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of effectiveness as the instructor for a variety of courses or teaching environments and ability to teach at the undergraduate level.

Required Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field and demonstrated effective teaching experience in criminology or criminal justice. ABD candidates with significant progress toward dissertation completion, JD candidates with extensive experience teaching in criminology or criminal justice, or MA or MS in criminology, criminal justice or a related field will also be considered.
