Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the preventative maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with company, federal, and state regulations. This role involves providing direction to a team of diesel technicians, implementing maintenance policies, and monitoring shop performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction to on-site technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Oversee coordination, planning, and scheduling of repair work to increase productivity and monitor shop performance.
  • Provide hands-on maintenance assistance and training to ensure personal and professional growth for technicians.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program to set the standard for service excellence and identify trends in road calls and break downs.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs and maintenance to ensure compliance with company safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of company vehicles.
  • Manage professional business relationships with external vendors and maintain knowledge of all equipment warranties.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills and ensure compliance with all applicable corporate, federal, and state rules and regulations.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • 5 or more years of experience, with 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Relevant certifications in safety training and process improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong customer service skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
