Job Summary:

Metis Practice Solutions is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team in providing high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. As an LVN, you will play a vital role in delivering professional nursing care, assisting healthcare providers, and managing patient flow for exams and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Prepare rooms for visits and procedures with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Perform basic nursing procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, and application of simple dressings, perennial care, and urine tests, Foley catheter insertions, and irrigation.
• Prepare, hang, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids.
• Ensure that expired medications are appropriately disposed of.
• Responsible for following clinic policies and procedures for handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous wastes.
• Monitor medical condition of patients and report changes to appropriate personnel.
• Take patient's vital signs and provide personal care to patients.
• Responsible for accurate administration of medications and collection/handling of lab specimens.
• Provide health care instruction to patients and family members.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of patients' medical records and handle patient records confidentially.
• Document transactions, telephone conversations, observations, and orders in patient's medical record according to the clinic's policies and procedures.
• Arrange for patients ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.
• Telephone reporting of lab results to patients.
• Demonstrate a courteous and helpful manner to patients, family members, and co-workers.
• Make sure the information given is complete, accurate, and timely.
• Return all phone calls the same day they were received - even to let them know you are waiting for additional information, results, etc.
• Keep patients informed of any delays in appointment time.
• Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department goals and objectives and maintain good employee relations.
• Be professional and courteous with physicians, fellow staff, other departments, patients, and others.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent certification required.
• California State LVN Licensure and CPR certification required.
• Minimum of 6 months of nursing experience required.
• 1+ years of nursing experience preferred.

Competencies & Success Factors:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPPA regulations.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Cal-OSHA safety and hazard regulations.
• Knowledge of medical insurances.
• Experience in providing patient care to newborns, children, adolescents, and adults.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Thorough and organized with patient care and file maintenance.
• Ability to maintain a calm manner and patience when working with patients, employees, and physicians.
• High level of customer service.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Adhere to all company policy and procedures.
