Job Title: Underwriter - Latin America and Caribbean

We're seeking a skilled Underwriter to join our team in Latin America and the Caribbean. As a key member of our Financial Lines team, you will be responsible for developing a profitable book of business and providing exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grow a profitable book of financial lines business within established guidelines and limits
  • Produce new business by understanding the business plan and targeting key clients and opportunities
  • Manage renewal of accounts, applying strategies to retain quality business and eliminate poor-performing accounts
  • Market The Hartford brand throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, leveraging over 25 countries
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers in over 25 countries
  • Focus on profit generation and provide technical expertise and market knowledge in the Financial Lines sector
  • Ensure adherence to the Group's standards for risk analysis, risk selection, technical pricing, and renewal date monitoring
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure timely and accurate data recording
Qualifications and Capabilities:
  • First-hand knowledge of financial lines risks and a strong technical understanding of all Financial Lines products
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Reinsurance underwriters and teams in other geographies
  • Willingness to continue developing knowledge of insurance and related issues through formal and informal learning
  • Knowledge of general insurance principles and the ability to prioritize and organize workload
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers
Experience:
  • Relevant experience in insurance production or underwriting, with a focus on financial lines
  • Experience working in Latin America and a deep understanding of the region's financial lines market
  • Strong marketing skills and the ability to develop and maintain broker relationships
Compensation:

The listed annualized base pay range is based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package, which includes short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
