Position Summary:
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for upholding quality standards through precise laboratory analyses, interpretation of results, and data trending in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct sampling and laboratory evaluations within a production setting, adhering to GLP standards.
- Communicate testing outcomes of raw materials, in-process, and finished products to management and production teams as necessary.
- Fulfill all company testing proficiency criteria, including maintaining required state testing certifications.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment remains in optimal condition through calibration, performance monitoring, cleaning, and routine maintenance.
- Execute tasks as outlined in the Laboratory Preventive Maintenance program.
- Prepare necessary laboratory solutions and media.
- Guarantee that all laboratory documentation produced is clear, complete, accurate, and complies with company protocols.
- Handle laboratory administrative duties, including timely recording, scanning, reporting, filing, and inventory management.
- Maintain laboratory organization in accordance with GMP and 5S principles, ensuring a clean and orderly workspace.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality, manufacturing, and social responsibility.
- Assume key responsibilities of the Quality Analyst Lead in their absence or as required.
- Be available for overtime work as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- An Associate's degree in a technical field with at least one year of laboratory experience or five years of quality control laboratory experience, preferably in the food or dairy industry.
- Knowledge of food safety, laboratory practices, and GMP standards is essential.
- Familiarity with HACCP, PMO, and basic sanitation practices is advantageous.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for varying durations.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and laboratory software.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a readiness to support colleagues.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Willingness to work all assigned schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with smear slides and microscope operation.
- Comfortable operating sterilization equipment such as an autoclave.
